Salina Utah is a city in Sevier County, Utah. The population of Salina was 2,660 in 2020. Mormon Pioneers settled the area in 1864. They found large slat deposits in the area, so they named it Salina. The Blackhawk War in 1866 caused the settlers to retreat to Manti, Utah. They returned to Salina in 1871. In 1891, Salina was connected to the states railroad system. During WWII, Salina had a POW camp housing 250 German prisoners of Erwin Rommel’s Afrikakorps. Salina is known for the Salina Livestock Auction. The area is known for its coal production and transportation.
